I first started seriously writing poetry back in March of 1999. My father had given me his old Mac SE to use for writing and I began to put it to good use.
Below is the very first piece I wrote:
ICEBERG MAN
Empty heart, emptier brain
Clueless, arrogant, and vain
Stone-cold eyes oozing disdain
Loving goes against the grain
When I sought your inner mind
Bitter pulp, plenty of rind
Somehow knew I wasn’t your kind
You’d toss out what I would find
Never bend, O King of Cool
Rip and rend; that is your rule
Not a friend unless a tool
In the end, a royal fool
Later today I will be taking a trip to the Oregon coast with Mary-Minn Sirag and members of the Autism Support Group. We were hoping to visit the lighthouse at Heceta Head but it turns out to be closed for repairs. I'm sure we'll discover other interesting points of interest like all the flotsam that's been coming in from the Fukishima disaster. We should look and admire but not touch these objects as they are most likely contaminated with radioactivity. Many pictures will be taken and posted on tomorrow's blog.
